Just Lucky to Be Here. :)

Happy Tuesday, MIT!

With St. Patrick's day this week, who else is feeling SUPER LUCKY to be able to do this sport? To put in the miles and achieve INSANE things?! But then after reflecting, I'm realizing this is not luck at all.

It's passion.

Commitment.

Consistency.

Discipline.

Support.

So to anyone who says "You're so lucky you can do what you do!!" I encourage you to share all that luck -- All those workouts and miles and Gu's and bandaid-covered blisters and sweaty long run pics. WE DON'T FIND LUCK. WE CREATE IT!

This week, Chris Lawson and the Fit For Life Physical Therapy team will chat about Core Stability.

In our bi-weekly Mental Health article, we learn about building a Mental Health Toolkit from Jody Davis, Member and RN, LISW-S.

For our workouts this week, we will be tackling 1200s on Walhalla Hill! After the workout before the cooldown, you have the option to join Coach Hannah for a brew at Combustion Brewing. Bring Headlamps! Saturday, we head to Whetstone High School for our long run/walk.

I'll see you all tomorrow!

Cheers,

Coach Hannah

FIT FOR LIFE EDUCATION

CORE STABILITY

Chris Lawson, PT, DPT

Fit For Life Physical Therapy

The core is an often-overlooked area for runners and walkers. Core stability refers to
the ability to hold and control a neutral position of the low back and pelvis while doing
an activity, such as running or walking. There is a key difference between core strength
and core stability. You may have six pack abs but may still have trouble stabilizing or
holding a neutral spine while running. FFL’s Chris Lawson will help us learn how core
stability affects runners and walkers, how we can test it, and how we can improve it.

Fit For Life Physical Therapy are proud to be the Official MIT and Fleet Feet + FrontRunner’s Sports Medicine Partners.  We care for people of all activity levels — to help prevent, recover from, or rehabilitate athletic injuries.
