If you ran Flying Pig, have you dried out yet?!

Remember that one Saturday at ODU when we ran through the crazy puddles after a big rain storm? Remember that one Wednesday night workout where the sky broke open at Riverlea and we all got drenched by pouring rain??!

Those grit-building runs came in handy for The "Floating" Pig on Sunday! The cliche of "anything can happen on race day" rang true, and I loved seeing how so many of you embraced it. The jury is out on whether or not the race should have been cancelled or delayed. Everyone's unique perspective is valid, and I'm glad you made the decision to do what was best for you!

For me: I absolutely LOVED this race. My ultramarathoning heart was bursting to the brim with the thrill of the challenge, the absurdity and hilarity of the terrible combination of circumstances and terrain, and how positively SPOOKY it was to RUN A MARATHON IN A THUNDERSTORM.

Sometimes when everything goes wrong, that's when the adventure starts.

Heading into this Saturday's first Off Season Social Run, I hope your toes are finally unwrinkled, your favorite shoes are dry, your heart is full, and you're more eager than ever to kick off another season of half and full marathon training.

Cheers,

Coach Hannah

Whether you are a veteran racer who just set a new marathon or half marathon PR, a new runner who finished training for your first 5k, or a track & field athlete nearing the end of your season, the toughest part of race training may now be upon you…. the recovery!  As odd as it may sound, sometimes it is more difficult to run less than it is to run more.

Read on for an in-depth look at post-race recovery.

MENTAL HEALTH CORNER

And that's (almost) a wrap!

Nita Sweeney

Do you have post-race blues?

Yes, most of us experience at least a short letdown once we’ve achieved a big goal. You’ve worked hard all season, looked forward to this day, and it’s over. What now? Read Nita's article for sage pre- and post-race advice.
