Week ??? of Training
AND WE ARE BACK. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding! A shortened version of our newsletter is here for quick details, and we'll be back in full next week.
🦵 Injury Prevention & Recognition
Shin splints and post-tib pain have been showing up everywhere lately! In just the past week, we’ve seen runner after runner struggling with Tibialis Posterior issues—at one Fit For Life clinic last Friday, nearly half the patients came in with this exact problem. It’s a frustrating injury that tends to flare up right around this point in the MIT training cycle.
That’s why this week’s article from Chelsea Hall, P.T.—who also happened to win Sunday’s Grandview Yard Half Marathon (!!)—is all about how to spot post-tib pain early and take care of it before it derails your training.
👉 Train Your Brain: Mid-Season Mental Health Tune-Up
Dr Bechtel has another key Train Your Brain article on the mid-season mental health tune-up.
Thanks for bearing with us.
See you soon!

Worthington, OH 43085
PARKING:

WORKOUT DETAILS:
Yasso 800s are back! What's Yasso? The premise is pretty straightforward: If your goal is to run a marathon in, say, 4 hours flat, you should be able to do 6-8 800m repeats in 4:00 minutes with recovery between reps. A 2:30 half marathoner (or 5 hour marathoner) would run their reps in 5:00 minutes, and so on and so forth.
V.02 workouts on your watch might have you doing this one a little faster than Yasso pace. Pay attention to your body.
ROUTES:
-
HALF MARATHONERS:
-
6x800 @ YASSO with 2 min recovery
-
-
FULL MARATHONERS:
-
8x800 @ YASSO with 2 min recovery
-
Advanced: instead of 2 min standing recovery, do a 400m jog recovery.
-
COOL DOWN: 1 mile back to office
Note: Please be sure to bring a hydration bottle or bottle to every Wednesday night workout. Hannah will have a cooler for water, but we are cup-less!
