MIT - Marathoner in Training 

Since 2001, MIT has been Central Ohio’s go-to resource for half and full marathon training. Thousands upon thousands of finish lines have been crossed. Millions of miles have been logged. MIT has and always will be about much more than a marathon!

Half & Full Marathon Training

Training for a half or full marathon requires commitment, strength, and courage. The fact that you're reading this as you consider beginning a marathon training program shows you already have the courage. Getting started is the hardest part. You've got this and we are here to help!

We have coached thousands of runners and walkers of all abilities, and we are honored to be your resource for all things marathon training! Whether this is your first or hundreth marathon, we've got your back!

Over the course of the season we provide you with the tools to complete your marathon. But more importantly we will be your resource to change your life. To make running, walking and moving integral to your lifestyle. To improve your overall health and wellness. 

When does training start? 

You can start today! We provide customized training schedules for every marathon. Our groups workouts do follow a set schedule based on our local marathons. Our groups workouts do follow a set schedule based on our local marathons:

  • Fleet Feet Warm Up Columbus, Half, Full, 5K and 10K in February

  • OhioHealth Capital City Half, Quarter and 10K in April

  • Flying Pig Marathon in May

  • OhioHealth Grandview Yard Half & Quarter Marathon August

  • Nationwide Children's Columbus Half and Full in October.

 

Our groups workouts do follow a set schedule based on our local half marathons. While we have set mileage for those training for those workouts each Saturday, we have participants training for races all over the country at all times of the year. No matter what distance you are doing, you will never be out on the trails alone! 

How far do I need to be able to run before getting started? 

Zero miles! We will get you from wherever you are today to the starting line with our proven program! There are three different training levels for you to choose from based on your ability level, and you can change schedules at any time!

When are the group workouts? 

Workouts are on Saturday mornings, and Wednesday evenings.

 

What do I need to get started?

  • Nothing except a desire to get moving!

  • Getting properly fit for running shoes will certainly help, but that can always wait until after the first workout.

What do I get?

  • Comprehensive and customizable training schedule.

  • MIT Participant Tee! (One per season for current members.)

  • MIT Participant Jacket! (With ANNUAL Membership option)

  • Two structured weekly workouts on Wednesday evenings and Saturday morning. Locations and times vary. Training duration varies depending on the season.

  • Weekly motivational and educational coaching e-mails. 

  • Curated educational content from the most respected medical professionals in the running and walking community.

  • Unparalleled motivation and the camaraderie of fellow participants with the same training goal!

  • Race day support and post-race party.

  • Race entry is NOT included. You will need to register separately for the race.

  • Fleet Feet Discount – 10% off everything, plus 10% back in rewards through the Fleet Feet App.

How much does it cost?

  • MIT offer two membership options:

    • ​Seasonal Membership: $100

      • Two seasons per year

      • Winter/Spring: Early January training start for late April/early May goal race.

      • Summer/Fall: Early June training start for late October goal race.
         

    • Annual Membership with jacket: $185

      • Registration opens in September 2023 for 2024 Annual Membership and the 2024 Winter/Spring Season.
