Week 11 of Training
You’ve made it to week 11 of our 18-week training season! This week is a bit of a switch-up: our full marathoners get a well-deserved fallback week to absorb the hard work you’ve been putting in, while our half marathoners are ramping things up again, so bring that focus and energy to your long runs!
We’ve got you covered with everything you need to train smart, stay healthy, and keep perspective—including what to do if you have a “bad workout” (yes, it’s a thing we all go through) and a deep dive into plantar fasciitis: how to recognize it, treat it, and prevent it.
📌 Next Week: Run Columbus Run @ The Hills Market!
Get excited! Next week is one of the biggest days of the MIT season! On Friday, September 13th, we’re inviting the entire Columbus running community to join us for our longest training runs of the year: 10 and 20 miles. It’s your chance to showcase what makes MIT so special: our welcoming, encouraging, and knowledgeable crew of athletes and coaches. Expect bigger crowds and new faces: soak in the energy, be a mentor to someone new, and help us show Columbus what we’re all about. (Plus, there will be bagels, brews, and New Balance hype to celebrate!)
🦵 Injury Prevention Spotlight
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common and frustrating running injuries out there. This week, our partners at Fit For Life Physical Therapy share everything you need to know about identifying it early, managing it effectively, and keeping your training on track. Also, a quick note about SUPER SHOES!
🧠 Train Your Brain
A “bad” workout isn’t the end of the world—in fact, it’s a powerful opportunity to grow as an athlete. We’ll talk about how to mentally reset, keep perspective, and put one tough run into the bigger picture of your training.
Every step is making you stronger, smarter, and better prepared for race day. Keep showing up and trusting the process. You’re doing incredible work.
See you out there,
Hannah

PLANTAR FASCIITIS
...& DOING THE HOKEY POKEY?
Plantar fasciitis is stealing the spotlight this week, and for good reason. It’s one of the most common running injuries we see, and our friends at Fit For Life Physical Therapy are here to help you recognize the signs early and get back on track with smart treatment and prevention strategies.
We’re also diving into the hype around super shoes (spoiler: they’re not your everyday trainers!) and bringing you a dose of mental resilience from Nita Sweeney, who shares how to shake off a “bad workout” with a little humor and a lot of perspective: Yes, even with the Hokey Pokey!
Fit For Life Physical Therapy are proud to be the Official MIT and Fleet Feet Columbus Medicine Partners. We care for people of all activity levels — to help prevent, recover from, or rehabilitate athletic injuries.
