I hope everyone enjoyed the crisp morning miles on Saturday! Shoutout to Julia for bringing Miss Maggie around for pre-long run puppy pets. 

The MIT| NYC Marathon Contest closes TOMORROW at noon! Get those last-minute entries in! Details below.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join one of the most iconic races in the world. Read below for details on how to enter and make your marathon dreams come true!

In addition to this exciting news, we are gearing up for another build week Track 1000s at Grit Workout on Wednesday and a 7 and 12 mile long run at Fleet Feet Upper Arlington this Saturday. Our Fit For Life articles for the next two weeks will help us dial in our Nutrition & Hydration. As our mileage load increases, we need to focus on fueling properly!

In this week's Train Your Brain article, Dr. Bechtel discusses goal-setting. What should your goals for the season be? Are they time-focused? Feel-focused? Read on to get inspired!

MEETUP LOCATION:

WORKOUT:

1 mile warm up to Thomas Worthington High School

  • HALF:​

    • 3 x 1000m @ HMP-->10k (3-4 minute recovery)

    • 2 x 400m @ 5k (2 minute recovery)

    • 2 x 200m strides
       

  • FULL:

    • 5 x 1000m @ HMP --> 10k (3-4 minute recovery)

    • 2 x 400m @ 5k (2 minute recovery)

    • 2 x 200 strides

  • EDGE:​

    • 6-8 x 1000m

    • 3 x 600m

NUTRITION 101 & GOAL SETTING FOR RACE DAY

After a few weeks of hip and leg injury discussions, it is time to turn our attention to the basics of nutrition and hydration.

This newsletter article for this week (Nutrition 101) will help prepare you for your goal walking or running event this fall. Please let us know if you have questions for Rebecca Youngs, MS, RD, LD, our Fit For Life Physical Therapy Sports Dietitian!

To enter, please submit an essay answering the following prompt in the FORM BELOW.

How has this been true for you? Tell us how or why running with MIT has changed your life. Please include how long you've been a member of MIT, and what running the NYC Marathon with MIT would mean to you. 
 

You may either type your answer in the form OR upload it as a file. 

 

DEADLINE:

WEDNESDAY, JULY 31 at 12 PM.

WHO DECIDES:
Your essays will be reviewed anonymously, and voted on by a panel of non-MIT Fleet Feet Staff.  The 5 members whose essays have the most votes will be be awarded entry.

GUMPATHON 2024!

Join us on Sunday, September 22nd for a one-of-a-kind running-meets-the-big-screen celebration of the iconic 1992 film Forrest Gump!

This half movie-screening/half quarter-marathon takes place at AND between Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse & the Grandview Theater & Drafthouse. Here's how it all works:

 

  • 8:00-9:00am - Registration 

 

  • 9:00-9:30am - Forrest Gump Screening Pt. 1
     

  • 9:30am-11:30am - Run 6.5 miles to the other theater location - Once you arrive, pick up your t-shirt & pint glass and enjoy a free beer before the movie starts back up.
     

  • 11:30am-2:00pm - Forrest Gump Screening Pt. 2
