Newsletter Week 20

"THE HAY IS IN THE BARN."

Happy Tuesday, MIT!

Congratulations! You’ve made it to the end of the training cycle! I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of you for your commitment, hard work, and determination. You showed up for yourself, day after day, mile after mile, and now, as they say, “the hay is in the barn.” You’ve put in the work, and now it’s time to let your body absorb it all.

As we enter this taper period, remember that it’s just as crucial as all those long runs you’ve conquered. Tapering helps your body recover, rebuild, and ultimately prepares you to be in peak condition for race day. Now’s the time to focus on resting, getting quality sleep, nourishing your body, and staying hydrated. It can be tough to cut back on mileage, but trust that your body needs this time to fully recharge.

Tonight, don’t forget to join us for our Race Week Nutrition Seminar led by our resident dietician, Rebecca Youngs. She’ll be sharing valuable insights on fueling up for your race and fine-tuning your diet to optimize your performance. Meet us at the TRACK HOUSE at 6:00 pm!

Also, mark your calendars for our MIT End of Year Party on Thursday, October 24th at 6:30 pm at ORBC. It’s a time to celebrate all your hard work, connect with fellow runners, and toast to an incredible season.

Stay tuned for next week’s newsletter, which will contain all the essential Columbus Half & Full Marathon Race Week instructions and information. In the meantime, enjoy this taper period, keep your spirits high, and let that excitement build for race day.

You’ve got this!

Happy Running, Walking, Moving & Shaking,

Coach Hannah
