Newsletter Week 15
Happy Tuesday MIT,
A huge thank you to everyone for your flexibility this past weekend with our last-minute location change for our long run! We hope you enjoyed the chilly miles as much as we did. As we look forward to RUN COLUMBUS RUN this weekend, let’s carry those good vibes with us, even as temperatures warm up.
We’re expecting a fantastic turnout for Run Columbus Run, with runners joining us from all corners of Ohio and beyond. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as one big running community, so let’s embrace the spirit of unity and make all our guests feel right at home. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to new faces, and offer a warm MIT welcome. Remember, some runners might be newer to the sport or less experienced, so let’s be patient and supportive, showing them the true MIT spirit.
Speaking of Run Columbus Run, we are still forming a team of VOLUNTEERS to help out with parking, directing, and setup. Interested in helping for $20 Fleet Feet Voucher? Please fill out the form HERE.
Additionally, we're excited to announce a special in-person nutrition information session with our partner dietician, Rebecca Youngs. This session will provide valuable insights to fuel your training and running performance. Be sure to check out the pre-reading article linked below to make the most of this informative event.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Run Columbus Run and continuing to make MIT a supportive and inclusive community!
Rest, eat, and hydrate well this week in preparation for big miles!

SATURDAY LONG RUN - 9/14 @ 7:00AM: RUN COLUMBUS
Run Columbus Run is back! This FREE, fully-supported group run is perfectly timed for the hearty souls who have been logging the miles all summer long in preparation for the Columbus Half & Full Marathon or other fall races.
Run Columbus Run is hosted by MIT, but is open to ALL Columbus run clubs and communities! This is an opportunity for us to RUN TOGETHER and celebrate the collective hard work that all walkers and runners in our community have put into this season.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
-
Larger crowds than usual. We highly encourage MIT members and Coaches to carpool and ARRIVE EARLY! Coaches, please park in the smaller NORTH LOT.
-
Long bathroom lines. Arrive early to use the restroom --- or drink your coffee early so you can take care of your business at home before the workout. ;)
-
New/less experienced runners and walkers. Run Columbus Run draws many newer athletes who have never run or walked in a pace group, never have covered that distance, or have been WINGING IT! This is our opportunity to show them the ropes of group training runs, trail etiquette, & safety. This is your opportunity to show up in friendship and mentorship to help a fellow runner/walker succeed!
-
A fun after-party. We have bagels, Jet's Pizza, KONA Ice Truck, beverages, music, COLD PLUNGE TUBS, and a New Balance Tie-Dye and Bracelet-Making Station! Fleet Feet will also have a pop-up shop. Bring an extra pair of clothes to change into after, and don't forget your OOFOS or fave pair of recovery sandals/shoes!

FIT FOR LIFE PHYSICAL THERAPY
Tibialis Posterior Tendinopathy Recognition and Treatment
During the last week, we have seen case after case of Tibialis Posterior pain in runners and walkers. Half of the Friday patients seen at one of our Fit For Life locations were Post Tib patients! It is a tough injury for MITers that is common during this portion of the training season.
So, this week, FFL’s Chelsea Hall P.T., second place finisher at Cap City 2024, and FFL’s Registered & Licensed Dietitian Rebecca Youngs will both help you battle tendon injuries.
Chelsea shows you how to care for Posterior Tibialis Tendon injuries and Rebecca details the uses of Collagen in to aid tendon injury healing. This article is a great pre-read for our upcoming in-person education program with Rebecca at the Trackhouse -DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!
Fit For Life Physical Therapy are proud to be the Official MIT and Fleet Feet Sports Medicine Partner. We care for people of all activity levels — to help prevent, recover from, or rehabilitate athletic injuries.
