Week 16: WELCOME TO TAPER! Let's Prep for Race Day
Hey MIT Fam,
Welcome to Taper! 🎉 The peak weeks are behind us, and now it’s time to sharpen the sword, trust the process, and prepare to unleash all your hard-earned fitness on race day.
As runners like to say when the work is done:
-
The hay is in the barn
-
The cake is baked
-
The eagle has landed
-
The money’s in the bank
-
The engine is built
-
The tools are in the shed
Whatever phrase you love most — you’ve earned it.
I’m incredibly proud of your grit, heart, and consistency this season. You survived (and thrived) through one of the toughest weather seasons we’ve ever had at MIT. Your resilience has been unmatched, and every soggy mile, frozen start, and windy finish is going to pay off big time on race day.
In this week’s newsletter, you’ll find everything you need to handle the next two weeks like a pro — from managing the taper "crazies" and phantom pains to nailing your race week and race day fuel. Don’t miss this!
🟡 Cap City Race Day Logistics. Keep your eyes peeled for a full race morning agenda in next Tuesday's newsletter!
🟡 Medal Monday Party – April 28 at 6pm at Combustion Brewing. Wear your medal and bring your Run Columbus Run poster to get it stamped with your finish time!
Dylan and I will be out this weekend running the Boston Marathon with EDGE (send good vibes!), but Jeanne will be holding it down with all the good last long-run energy.
See you tomorrow for GRIT. Let’s finish strong 💪
Happy Running, Walking, Moving & Shaking,
Coach Hannah
