Week 12: Dealing with Mid-Season Injuries

Happy Build Week, MIT Fam!

🔥 We’re heading into a HUGE training weekend with 10 miles for our Half Marathoners and 20 miles for our Full Marathoners! This is where all your hard work starts coming together, so let’s make it count. Now’s the time to dial in your nutrition—make sure your carb intake is on point leading up to the run, and don’t forget to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

This is also the PERFECT opportunity to test out your race day shoes, gear, and nutrition strategy. Treat this run like a dress rehearsal for race day. Fine-tune what works and adjust what doesn’t so you feel unstoppable when the big day arrives.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ MIT x New Balance NYC Marathon Contest: It’s still OPEN, and we’ve added an EXTRA interview day for Saturday, March 22nd. If you couldn’t make your appointment before, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE! Check out the details below.

💪 Our latest Fit for Life Article dives into the physical and emotional challenges of dealing with injury. Special shoutout to Dr. Heather Bechtel for her incredible piece on the mental health implications of injury recovery—don’t miss this one!

📅 And don’t forget to mark your calendars for RUN COLUMBUS RUN on Saturday, April 12th at Crooked Can Brewing! Our annual FREE community long run will be a blast, with both groups taking on 12 miles. MIT members DO NEED TO SIGN UP this year, and if you’re bringing a friend, have them register, too (it’s free!). REGISTER HERE.

Every mile you put in is building something amazing. Trust your training, stick to your plan, and let’s crush this weekend together!

Happy Running, Walking, Moving & Shaking,

Coach Hannah

MOVING PEOPLE - PHYSICALLY & EMOTIONALLY
Fit For Life Physical Therapy

This week Dr Heather Bechtel and FFL’s Chelsea Hall are going to help us tackle the difficult subject of “how to deal with an injury.”  Through their excellent articles, we will spend time reviewing both the mental (Train Your Brain) and physical components of how to deal with a running or walking injury.

Fit For Life Physical Therapy are proud to be the Official MIT and Fleet Feet Columbus Medicine Partners.  We care for people of all activity levels — to help prevent, recover from, or rehabilitate athletic injuries.
